It was a cold, rainy Tuesday night in Boston. However, APM Music's Emerging Artists Showcase, featuring Blondfire, had the proper amount of firepower to turn the heat meter up and bewitch a sold-out crowd at The Jungle Music Club.
Blondfire, fronted by the gifted singer-songwriter, Erica Driscoll, treated the audience to an incredible mix of timeless hits and brand-new songs from her EP released exclusively by APM Music. It was alternative pop at its fiery best. Songs like "Get You High" and "Wild Girls" are phenomenal records, but seeing and hearing them performed live by Driscoll and her band has a different impact.
"I drove from New York to Boston just to see Blondfire," said one fan who saw the rare reunion. "It was worth the trip."
Blondfire's breakout came in 2011–2014 with the synth-pop anthem “Where the Kids Are” and its follow-up “Waves,” which were featured in Honda ads and became indie radio favorites, earning them tours with Foals, AWOLNATION, and a slot at Lollapalooza.

"I am a big Blondfire fan and seeing them again here in the Boston area is surreal," said another fan. "Thank you APM Music for bringing them here."

The memorable night began with a stellar set by local singer-songwriter, Tiffy, whose 1990s alternative rock-inspired music completely brought the house down. Backed by three superb musicians on drums, bass, and lead guitar, Tiffy's music has the right amount of hooks and an ample dose of edge, which takes the whole thing to a higher level.
"They (Tiffy) remind me of The Pixies, and I am all for it," said Jenna, a local music scene supporter from the south side of Boston. "I want to see them as much as I can before they become famous."
The Boston-area music community is tight. There are plenty of small and mid-sized mom-and-pop venues that are neither owned nor run by major tour agencies, and they prioritize homegrown talent. The Jungle Music Club is one such venue. Their open mic nights are the stuff of legends graced by top indie artists and local stand comedians. The affordable alcohol and food don't hurt either, hence locals love it.
With the success of Blondfire's first headlining show after a long hiatus, it would be tempting to say that Driscoll and her group might make a full return to touring, but who knows? One thing is certain though: APM Music's commitment to showcasing its best artists is here to stay.
