Jonas Friddle is a celebrated folk musician, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist known for his deep connection to traditional American music.

Hailing from North Carolina, he was immersed in the sounds of bluegrass, old-time, and Appalachian folk from a young age. His passion for music led him to study at Berea College in Kentucky, where he honed his skills in traditional American music. The influence of early country, blues, and gospel would later define his unique sound.

Friddle’s music is characterized by rich storytelling, intricate banjo and guitar work, and a deep appreciation for folk traditions. He has released multiple albums, both as a solo artist and with his band, the Majority. His compositions often blend the raw authenticity of old-time tunes with modern arrangements, making his music both nostalgic and refreshing.

One of Friddle’s most notable achievements was winning the John Lennon Songwriting Contest in 2012 for his song “Belle de Louisville.” This recognition cemented his reputation as a talented songwriter capable of capturing history and emotion in his lyrics.

In 2022, Friddle released album under the production music library Stars to Tracks entitled Contemporary Folk Artists Volume 1. It is a collection of organic roots folk music that he recorded with his band The Majority. Listen to the album below.
