The human voice is arguably the most powerful musical instrument in the world. Not only can it articulate melodies and rhythms, but it can also convey messages that have the power to change the world. DEVMO is a Hip-Hop artist who knows this well, and in fact, has used it throughout her entire career to both express and empower. Her latest album with Endgame, called All Star, is a clear example of this because it aims to soundtrack content that emboldens women athletes to not only win but also to graciously rise and return when they lose.

We recently chatted with the prolific artist and talked about her career, the album, and if she prefers sleeping versus eating.

Check out the special Sound Screen episode below.

Devin Moses, better known by her stage name DEVMO, grew up surrounded by creativity. Born in Santa Monica, California, she was raised in a household that lived and breathed art. Her mother hosted an Irish music radio show, her father worked as an architect and fine artist, and her sister followed a career in the music industry.

From a young age, Devin was drawn to rhythm. She learned guitar, took ballet and Irish dancing, and experimented with different forms of expression. Those early lessons in sound and movement would later echo in her flow.

After enrolling at the Musicians Institute’s Independent Artist Program, DEVMO honed her skills and gained industry know-how. Her big moment came when she won the school’s Artist Development Showcase, proving that her combination of raw honesty and sharp delivery was something special.

Her 2021 EP Tears was a turning point, a deeply personal collection that explored mental health, loss, and growth. The songs don’t try to hide the rough edges. Instead, they spotlight them, turning pain into melody and reflection into empowerment.

What stands out most is her authenticity. She doesn’t chase trends or polish her image for the algorithm. DEVMO’s music feels lived-in, like she’s telling stories straight from the middle of the moment, not the end of it.

She is truly one of the best Hip Hop artists around today who knows the power behind the voice and the beat.
