There are many paths that women are not expected to tread just because of their gender. One of these paths is Metal. For decades, this genre of music, often gate kept by men, had erected a glass ceiling so restrictive that women almost always get judged, chased down, discouraged, even shamed for trying.

Kristyn Hope, the lead singer of the band Daedric is not one to back down, however. If fact, she already broke that ceiling with her sheer will, impeccable talent, and powerful scream. Yes, her scream was so strong it zipped the mouths of every man who doubted her. Now, she is free to rule the genre in her own terms. 

In this exclusive interview with Kristyn, she talked about how she fell in love with singing, how she started Daedric, and how she navigates a world that is often prejudicial to her gender.
